Visvodaya Govt. Degree College

Venkatagiri has an Identity of its own which has been known for its historical importance as well as for the flourishing handlooms. Though a small town, it is known widely because of its handloom Jarisarees which acquired a Geographical Index Tag.

Visvodaya Government Degree College was established on 16th August 1968 by Philanthropist Sri M. NarasimhaRao. It was managed by a Board of Trustees and was taken over by Government of Andhra Pradesh on 26th November 1977. The college has an active and registered alumni association with the name, “VISVODAYA KALASALA PURVA VIDHYARDHULA SANGHAM”with Regd. No. 101/2009. The Association periodically meets the staff to discuss about the development of the College. Some of the members of the Alumni have contributed towards prizes for the students who excelled in studies. The College is proud of its Alumni for their distinguished careers in India as well as abroad. The Alumni of this college are proud to say that many ex-students are working in the countries like Germany, Dubai, USA and Singapore.
